Access for Patients and Visitors with Disability

There are 4 patient lifts (2 in the ward area and 2 in the Consultants block).

There are 8 Disabled spots in the Public carpark, 8 in the Consultants carpark & 12 in total for staff.

The HiMed Patient Entertainment System

The HiMed patient entertainment system is available for use at each ward bedside.
Internet, Television and Radio access is free for patients.
Patients can use the HiMed Phone system to make and receive calls to their bedside.
There is a requirement for a €5.00 refundable deposit for a HiMed Phone System card.
The card must also be topped up at the Paystations located in the Reception Area and the First floor in order to make external calls.

Patients are required to use a “0” before dialing a number to achieve an external line.

Patients and visitors can use their wireless laptop PCs in the hospital as high speed Internet access is also available. This high speed internet access is available with a credit card.

Mobile phones can be used in the hospital except where specifically excluded.


A menu card with details of meal times and how to order will be available at your bedside where you can order your preferences. Every effort is made to provide a variety of food to suit all tastes.

The Restaurant located on the first floor serves breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks and is opened from 8am to 6pm daily.

Compliments / Complaints

We hope your stay in Hermitage Medical Clinic has been as comfortable as possible. Hospital staff are always pleased to hear any appreciative comments and these will be passed on to the staff concerned. If, however, there is any area in which you feel improvements can be made, please do not hesitate to let us know. We welcome comments or suggestions that may help maintain or improve our standards and we invite you to complete our comment card.

Management guarantees that all complaints will be treated confidentially, and will be processed in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with the Compliments / Complaints Policy.


If you are having an operation the Doctor will explain the procedure to you and then will ask you to sign a Consent Form. You will always be afforded sufficient time to ask questions and discuss any aspect of your care so please do not hesitate to request this.

If a child is having an operation, the consent must be signed by a legal guardian.

Day Cases

Admission time for Daycare procedures will be given to you by your Consultant’s secretary. Please read all relevant details.

Discharge Date and Time

Your discharge date will be decided between you and your Consultant, who is responsible for your care during your stay.
Please note that rooms must be vacated no later than 10am on the day of discharge.


If possible you should try to arrange a relative or friend to bring you and
collect you from the Hospital. There is a public car park located beside the
Hospital which is open 24 hrs.

The car park paystation is located in the main reception area of the hospital.
This machine accepts cash, coins and credit cards and the charges are
as follows:


Hourly €3
Daily €20
Weekly €40

If a patient is here more that 8 hours on leaving the most they will be charged is €18 when they pay at the pay station.

Personal Property

The hospital cannot accept responsibility for any items retained by patients throughout their hospital stay. It is advisable that all valuables, jewellery, clothing and cash (except a small amount of petty cash) be left at home

Postage of Letters

There are facilities for the postage and delivery of mail while in the Hospital. There is a Mailbox in the Reception Area beside the public telephones.

Public Telephones

Public telephones are available in the main reception area.

Religious / Pastoral care services

The hospital Oratory is located near the Main Reception area. There is a Chaplain and a chaplaincy team available. Arrangements can be made for patients of all denominations to be visited by their clergy.

Restaurant & shop details

The restaurant is open for patients and visitors from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Breakfast, lunches, dinners and snacks are available daily. There is a shop located in reception which sells a range of products including newspapers, magazines, sweet and savoury snacks, drinks, essential toiletries and greeting cards.

Restaurant opening hours:

7.30am to 8.00pm – Monday to Friday
9.30am to 5.00pm – Saturday, Sundays & Bank Holidays

Shop opening hours:

8.00am to 7.00pm – Monday to Friday
10.00am to 4.00pm – Saturday
10.00am to 2.00pm – Sunday

A morning trolley service with a selection of products from the shop visits each floor.

Smoking Policy

For a healthier environment Hermitage Medical Clinic and grounds is a non-smoking area. We appreciate your support in complying with this legislation.
